Why Choose Us?

Relationship Based Training

a positive, trust-centered approach to working with dogs that emphasizes a strong, respectful bond between the human and the dog.

Core Principles:

  • Trust and Respect: The foundation is a deep, trusting relationship. The dog trusts that you’ll guide and protect them, and you respect the dog’s needs, emotions, and boundaries.
  • Understanding the Dog’s Point of View: I try to see things from the dog’s perspective. I'm always observing their body language, motivations, and stress signals. And will teach you how to as well!
  • Clear Communication: I'll help teach commands and boundaries through consistent communication, encouragement, rewards and patience.
  • Bond-Building Activities: Training is not just about obedience but includes play, exercise, and time spent together to deepen the relationship. We will work together to find activities tailored specifically to your dog and you's  relationship!

Training Philosophy & Methods

What is your overall Training Philosophy?

I believe in balanced relationship training! Our dogs should not be below us and we are not the "alpha". Your dog and you are a team and should work together as one. I believe without rewards, fulfillment, and enrichment our relationship with our dogs won't work. I like to focus on relationship, reward based foundation, and especially the dogs state of mind!

Do you use positive reinforcement, and

if so, how?

Absolutely! I believe all dogs should be rewarded for their time and work! I always have treats on myself ready to mark and reward for all positive and desired behaviors! I always tell my clients, if you went into work and they told you "we're not going to pay you anymore but you still have to work!" are you going to want to stay at that job? no, you're going to go find somewhere that pays you! And thats usually when your dogs start to act out or get into stuff. Trash or stuff left ou is still a reward to our dogs!

How do you handle unwanted behaviors like barking, jumping, or aggression?

There are various ways to work with all sorts of unwanted behaviors. The root of it all is Prevention, Management, and Behavior Modification. We want to also find the cause of the behavior, is it out of fear, overstimulation, lack of training, or maturity of dog? Once we target the cause we can properly manage and modify!

Do you use any aversive tools (like prong collars, or e-collars)?

In short yes, but heres my full run down. My training approach is rooted in building a strong relationship and using positive reinforcement as the foundation for all behavior work. I always begin with the least intrusive, most positive methods: like rewards, clear communication, and management strategies. Tools like prong collars or e-collars are never my first step, and they’re not appropriate for every dogHowever, in certain cases, when a dog’s behavior or safety calls for additional guidance, I may introduce these tools thoughtfully and on a case-by-case basis. My priority is always to use them humanely, with clear instruction, and only when the dog and you understand what’s being asked. If tools are used we want our training to still be 98% positive reinforcement! I will never use tools to punish or intimidate, but as part of a broader plan to improve communication and achieve long-term success. The relationship comes first, tools are just one possible piece of the puzzleI
